Estimator for Leading Civils & Rail Contractor – NW London


Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates in a timely and efficient manner
  • Controlling and managing the estimating process at project level
  • Developing and promoting estimating good practice within NEWCO
  • Producing all estimates in accordance with relevant client procedures, work instructions, systems (eg CostX, RIB, CATO, etc) and processes
  • Applying and using recognised, appropriate method of measurement rules (eg RMM) in the preparation of all estimates
  • Supporting client procurement teams with tender and/or contract price analysis and reference to baseline and revised estimates
  • Supporting client commercial teams with unit cost modelling, costs analysis feedback for final account and/or significant contract scope proposed change analysis and preparation of project close-out analysis

Supporting the collation of data for KPIs as defined and required



  • BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • A minimum of five years’ technical delivery experience in the provision of estimating and/or QS services
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes
  • Working knowledge of cost planning techniques for the financial control of projects during design development stages
  • Proficient in use of unit cost modelling tools
  • Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills
  • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
  • A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
