Temporary Works Engineering Manager
My client are seeking to appoint a Temporary Works Engineering Manager to be located on a large complex civils project in East Anglia. This role will see you working on a major bridge crossing over Lake Lothing, the bridge is being constructed over a live port and road re-design are involved with the project
Role Outline
You will be required to ensure that all Temporary Works are adequately and safely designed, constructed, implemented and removed in accordance with Project Procedures and industry standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure that – those responsible for on-site supervision receive full design details, with risks and limitations highlighted; checks are made at appropriate stages covering the more critical factors; proposed changes in materials or any other agreed changes or corrections of faults, are correctly carried out; during use, all appropriate maintenance and routine inspection is carried out
- Issue formal permit to load if check(s) prove satisfactory
- When it has been confirmed that the permanent structure has attained adequate strength as required by the design, issue formal permission to dismantle the Temporary Works
- Understand and apply the principles of PC’s TWC as defined in BS5975:2019, PAS8811:2017 and all other applicable standards
- Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015
- Provide specific briefings on the limitations of Temporary works schemes in conjunction with the designer where appropriate
Skills & Experience required
- Hold a Civil / Structural Engineering Qualification, minimum of HNC/HND, preferably BEng, BSc or higher
- Proven temporary works experience on large scale civils projects
- Previous Design Management experience with TW knowledge would also be considered
- CSCS Card holder
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course (preferred)
- Completed SMSTS (preferred)
