General Superintendent - Heavy Civil/Municipal - Kingston

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the owner, the General Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operation and production at multiple municipal project sites. They are responsible for the allocation of resources, equipment and subcontractors within their projects. They monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with contract specifications and company standards. The main objective covering multiple projects will be to deliver work safely, within time, within budget and to the expected level of quality. A strong background in working alongside government entities, of which 90% is repeat work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct construction projects across the City of Kingston and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure safety compliance by all workers, including subcontractors
  • Ensure all reports including daily journals, Health and Safety documentation and maintenance records are completed per reporting requirements (daily, weekly etc.)
  • Day-to-day coordination of multiple construction crews, owned equipment, rented equipment, material supply and subcontractors
  • Plan and implement construction schedules with the Project Manager/Superintendent and confirm manpower, equipment and subcontractor availability.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of civil / infrastructure construction site supervision, preferably in the areas of sewer & water, rockbreaking, municipal and earthworks.
  • Post-secondary education program in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is an asset.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal English, with the ability to undertake moderately complex technical correspondence and conversations
  • Proven leader of people able to engage and motivate a team to consistently deliver their best work.
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts, ensuring any additional work outside of the project scope is identified.
  • Adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working well under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Located or willing to relocate to Kingston, ON
