Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents and complete ‘Go, No Go’, and risk assessments.
  • Issue RFI’s to engineers for any bid documents discrepancies & unclear information.
  • Prepare scope of work and send RFQs to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Setup estimates in estimating software.
  • Complete accurate civil (and mechanical/structural) takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, labor and equipment.
  • Incorporate ground conditions and construction sequences into estimates.
  • Review design drawings, identifying errors and solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Prepare and submit shop drawings.
  • Evaluate quotations and write subcontract agreements.
  • Procure equipment and materials on time and under budget.
  • Manage and coordinate work with other technical and field staff.
  • Provide a safe work environment through continuous training and development.
  • Operate with honesty, integrity and respect.

 
Skills & Education

  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering is an asset.
  • Experience in civil estimating for a civil contractor in Western Canada (preference will be given to candidates with water/wastewater treatment plant and pumping station project related estimating experience).
  • In depth knowledge of civil construction techniques including earthworks, dewatering, shoring, pipe laying, concrete forming, etc.
  • Working knowledge of civil and structural engineering, water and wastewater process engineering.
  • Knowledge of environmental and drinking water standards, building codes and safety regulations is an asset.
  • AutoCAD experience in an asset.
  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal.
  • Willing to learn on and off the job.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Valid Driver’s License (some travel within BC may be required and our Langley office is not accessible via public transit).
