As the Director of Finance, you will have oversight of the Finance, Accounting, IT and Human Resources functions with 8 direct reports. The Director of Finance will be an integral role within the organization acting as a key business partner to department leads, ensuring sound financial control whilst providing financial insight and analysis to help shape strategic business decisions.
We are looking for a proven and experienced leader with strong communications skills and who can “roll up their sleeves” and lead from the front.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide oversight and leadership to the Accounting, Finance, IT and HR functions.
- Treasury: Lead the financing and cash management strategies and functions, developing cashflow projections and business plans (long range and short range – including taxable income).
- Appraises the financial position and provides analysis and advice to senior management.
- Orchestrates the creation of annual corporate and departmental budgets.
- Banking: Manage relationships with financial institutions, monitor bank compliance with debt and covenants along with reviewing and negotiate loan agreements and setup lease terms.
- Review documents for CRA audits and act as a liaison between CRA, External Auditors and the President.
- Overall responsibility for all process improvement projects related to finance, accounting and I.T.
- Ensures timely completion of regular financial reporting, year-end reporting and corporate compliance. Ensures financial reporting is accurate, relevant and timely; develops and monitors internal accounting controls. Liaison with external accountants for tax planning initiatives.
- Financial review of project specific budgets, cashflow and projection reporting
- Ensure effective and efficient I.T. infrastructure is in place. Ensures hardware and software are aligned with the strategic plan and are managed and enhanced accordingly.
- Development of business intelligence reporting including database management, design and analysis for the purpose of presenting business information company wide.
- Oversee the human resource department including payroll and benefits, ensuring compliance with legislation.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A collaborative leadership style with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
- CPA designated and a Bachelors degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance, Business).
- Excellent communication skills, with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- A proven track record of successfully managing a team with diverse experience, styles and backgrounds.
- Knowledge and a demonstrated background of construction, development, engineering industry would be considered an asset.
