My client who specialises in Wastewater Treatment plants are seeking a Project Manager to join their expanding team.
SUMMARY:
The Project Manager is to manage and coordinate all activities of Projects assigned to them.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- The Project Manager reports directly to the Vice President, Projects.
- The Site Supervisor, Subcontractors and Project Coordinator(s) report directly or indirectly to the Project Manager for specific projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the successful implementation and installation of assigned projects. Success being defined as in scope, on budget and on schedule.
Planning, Budgeting and Procurement
- Reviews project contractual documents to gain an understanding of the project requirements (time frame, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials and equipment requirements), necessary to complete the project within the required time frame.
- Identify errors in contract documents and design drawings and mitigate risk though RFIs, change orders and other methods.
- Identify potential cost saving ideas and develop a strategy to implement these ideas
- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and schedules during tendering and project execution phases
- Review terms of payment and requirements for monthly progress payments
- Send request for quotations to subcontractors and ensure 3 quotes are received for every scope of work during tendering and/or project phase
- Prepare subcontract agreements in accordance with company policy, ensuring sufficient risk is passed onto subcontractors
- Collect all required documentation from subcontractors
- Ensure subcontractor has all required submittal approvals, materials, supplies, equipment and tools to complete work before the subcontractor begins work onsite.
- Procure equipment and materials on time and under budget in accordance with company policy
- Planning all operations to maximise the efficiency of the work force, materials, supplies, equipment and tools. Additionally, track productivity for labour and material costs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post‐secondary technical diploma or degree.
- 5 years’ experience in water and wastewater engineering and/or construction
- Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal
- Multi‐discipline knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering and construction
- Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of project and technical issues.
- Experience supervising, training, coaching and mentoring staff.
- Enjoys fast paced environment, willing to push self and others to meet schedules
- Highly organized and motivated to carry out a variety of duties
- Aptitude to problem solve and think “outside the box”.
- Proficient in MS Office including MS Project
