Responsibilities
- Oversee and work closely with Project Managers and their teams on multiple projects.
- Contribute to the estimating of projects, including determining project scope, subcontractor selection, pre-award planning, and costing.
- Prepare and monitor the project master schedule in conjunction with the PM team.
- Negotiate with and select subcontractors to ensure capability of subcontractor to perform.
- Prepare a Project Execution Plan in conjunction with Superintendent.
- Select personnel for the project in conjunction with the Operations Manager and PM team.
- Evaluate potential execution strategies to ensure implementation of the best combined utilization of materials, equipment, labour, and subcontractors for successful project outcomes.
- Manage and oversee the budget and cost reporting system for all project components.
- Complete a Margin Forecast and review bi-weekly.
- Prepare the Monthly Project Report and review with Management.
- Advise on project execution issues, potential claims, and disputes.
- Identify required and optional changes in project scope; negotiate change orders with the general Contractor.
- Benchmark efficiency and effectiveness of project activities and act to improve project outcomes.
- Ensure updates, preparation, and distribution of bi-weekly schedules are completed, and notify Management of deviations from schedule in a timely manner.
- Ensure the execution of the quality control program on projects, and that all aspects of the work conform to applicable specifications, codes, and standards.
- Ensure project closeout activities such as coordinating documentation for deficiencies, warranties, operation, and maintenance information are completed with accuracy.
- Act to resolve disputes between the company and GC, or company and subcontractors.
- Build and maintain effective and efficient working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Ensure that project staff understand the company’s operating policies and practices and apply these appropriately.
- Provide direction, coach / mentor / develop, review performance, and recommend advancement and dismissal of personnel working with the Operations Manager.
- Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviours that reflect corporate expectations.
- Take responsibility for the development, implementation, and execution of the Project Specific Safety Plan.
- Ensure that Project Quality Risk Assessment is conducted for the project upon award of project contract.
- Take responsibility for own health and safety, and that of other workers, visitors to the site(s), the community, and the environment.
- Ensure HSE has equal status through all phases of the project.
- Monitor and measure HSE goals and expectations using Key Performance Indicators.
- Understand and comply with client requirements, WorkSafeBC, and other applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- 5 + years of related project management experience is required.
- Experience leading a tower construction project is a strong asset.
- Formal education in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge in construction methods and project management processes.
- Ability to train and develop project staff in all aspects of project requirements.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and project management software.
