There’s a warm welcome in Doonbeg to news that the Trump resort has been given planning permission for a €40 million upgrade of its facilities.

The resort plans to construct 53 new holiday homes, a restaurant, leisure facilities, and perhaps most significantly a large function room.

The decision by Clare County Council could yet be further appealed, while the resort is also still awaiting a decision from An Bord Pleanala on coastal protection works for the property.

Clare FM understands this multi-million euro expansion is highly unlikely to proceed until those coastal protection works are completed.
