Work has begun on €125m Penrose Dock Office Development

Construction has begun on the €125 million Penrose Dock office development, one of the key elements of the planned transformation of the North Quays into a thriving new economic district.

Developers JCD Group Cork have appointed Cork- based construction company, PJ Hegarty’s as the main building contractor and another local company, Loftus Demolition are already on site.

“We are very excited to get going on our new development, Penrose Dock, which will be our largest City Centre project to date,” JCD Group CEO John Cleary, said.

“I’d like to express my appreciation to the adjoining landowners and occupiers for their support.”

Plans includes a 250,000 square feet open plan office scheme, a 12,500 square feet. state of the art gymnasium, a proposed wine bar/coffee shop, 160 basement car spaces and a large townhall space.

The construction phase of Penrose Dock is expected to take 18 months to complete with both buildings being ready for tenants to move in by May 2020.

The historic 12,000 square feet. Penrose House will be refurbished at the same time while work has also started on the boutique Dean Hotel as part of the Horgan’s Quay development next door.

“The renewal of the Docklands has begun in earnest and the signs are positive for Ireland’s fastest growing city region,” Cork Chamber of Commerce CEO, Conor Healy added.
