PAYROLL ASSOCIATE Job Description:
Reporting to the Controller you will be working as a critical member of our accounting team. You will oversee the payroll function for several of our companies. You will be responsible to ensure that we deliver the highest level of attention to detail while managing relationships with our employees.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain payroll records and supporting timesheets and expense reports, reimbursements processed via payroll,
- Code and process employee expense reports,
- Maintain employee files for both active and terminated employees,
- Maintain vacation and absence tracker,
- Ensure that you maintain an up-to-date understanding of union agreements and their impact on compensation calculations.
- When required, you will be responsible for processing and issuing Records of Employment,
- Interact with employees and address any of their HR enquiries,
- Assist with the year-end preparation of T4 processing,
Additional Responsibilities:
- Receive visitors,
- Accept courier deliveries,
- Arrange for outgoing courier deliveries,
- Pick up and distribute company mail,
- Ensure the postage machine is loaded and functioning.
- Maintain and distribute up to date staff directory,
- Order and distribute office supplies,
- Process and control employee hotel and travel arrangements,
- Support the Accounts Payable function,
- Code and process credit card statements, ensuring that support documentation accompanies each statement,
- Assist with maintaining inventory control,
- Other responsibilities may be required as directed.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook),
- Accounts payable experience,
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally,
- Strong and accurate data entry skills,
- Highly organized with effective time management skills,
- Ability to work independently as part of a team,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Recommended Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree
