Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing real estate development firm based in Abbotsford, is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller to join their dynamic finance team. Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Controller in overseeing the full-cycle accounting for multiple real estate development projects.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare internal financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, budgets, and commitments across various developments.
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls.
• Help manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including mentorship of junior staff as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with development, construction, and sales teams to provide financial insights.
• Participate in the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• CPA designation or in progress
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within real estate development, construction, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE) and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Yardi) and Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
