Building Envelope Engineer - Burnaby, BC 
 
Our client, a well-established engineering consultancy, is seeking a Building Envelope Engineer to join their Burnaby office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings expertise in both existing buildings and new construction projects. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the BC Building Code (Parts 3, 5, and 9) as well as the Wood Design Guide, and will play a key role in leading projects and mentoring junior staff.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Conduct Building Envelope Condition Assessments across residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • Prepare and review designs, drawings, specifications, and technical details with a focus on building envelope systems.
  • Provide field reviews and construction monitoring to ensure compliance with design intent, codes, and industry standards.
  • Oversee rehabilitation projects, including investigation, planning, documentation, and supervision of construction activities.
  • Manage task assignments, maintain quality control, and ensure project deliverables meet high technical standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, architects, and other consultants to deliver successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer registered with EGBC (or eligibility for registration).
  • 5+ years of experience in building science / building envelope engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of BC Building Code (Parts 3, 5, and 9) and the Wood Design Guide.
  • Experience working on both rehabilitation of existing buildings and design of new construction projects.
  • Experience with structural design is considered an asset.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
Compensation & Location
  • Salary: Minimum $90,000 annually, with final compensation dependent on experience.
  • Full-time role based in Burnaby, BC.
