Design Manager | Mission-Critical Data Centre Projects | Sydney

Are you an experienced Design Manager with a background in mechanical building services and large-scale infrastructure projects? This is an outstanding opportunity to join a market-leading contractor delivering one of Australia's largest hyperscale data centre developments.

You'll play a key role in managing the design coordination for a landmark data centre project in the Hunter Region, working alongside highly experienced engineering, BIM, and project delivery teams from concept through to construction.

The Opportunity
As the Design Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and coordinating the mechanical services design across multidisciplinary teams. You'll act as the key interface between internal engineers, offshore design and BIM teams, and project management, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable, and delivered on programme.

This is a long-term opportunity with engineering commencing next month and Phase 1 scheduled for completion in December 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the mechanical services design throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead design coordination meetings with internal engineering, BIM, and project delivery teams.
• Coordinate with offshore engineering and BIM resources to ensure quality and programme outcomes.
• Review design documentation for compliance, constructability, and project requirements.
• Work closely with project managers to resolve design issues and maintain project milestones.
• Drive collaboration between consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

About You We're looking for someone who brings:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within building services, mission-critical, or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong mechanical services background with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Experience working on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
