We are seeking an experienced Grid Compliance Manager to lead the delivery of connection compliance across our large-scale energy storage projects in Germany. This is a senior, visible role working directly with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to ensure successful and timely grid integration.
This role is also open to Grid Consultants/Contractors seeking long term assignment. About the Role You will manage the complete grid compliance process for a
1 GW / 4-hour Ready-to-Build project west of Berlin, with COD targeted for late 2028. The role will focus entirely on
TSOs (no DSOs), ensuring all studies, processes, and compliance tests are executed to specification.
This position offers a
hybrid working model with flexibility on office attendance, core hours between 8 am-6 pm, and generous holiday freedom. Some site visits and travel for TSO meetings will be required, typically
once per week during delivery phases.
Key Job Responsibilities (First 6 Months)
- First 3 Months:
- Review project design and identify grid compliance risks.
- Plan grid compliance activities aligned with the delivery timeline.
- Within 6 Months:
- Establish a grid compliance process and communication plan with the TSO.
- Lead coordination and task assignment across contractors and consultancies.
Ongoing Job Duties - Oversee third-party execution of compliance tests and studies (e.g., short-circuit, load flow, stability).
- Review and approve all technical grid studies conducted by external partners.
- Manage the grid compliance process end-to-end — from design through commissioning.
- Act as the primary liaison between TSOs, EPC consultants, and internal leadership.
Reporting Lines Reports directly to either the CTO or Engineering Director, based on experience and current role. Works closely with project delivery and engineering teams.
Required Job Experience & Skills - Proven leadership in grid compliance for generation connections to German TSOs (ideally 50Hertz).
- In-depth knowledge of VDE AR-N-4130 and its application in large-scale projects.
- Background in managing full grid connection lifecycles, either in a grid manager capacity or via consultancy/contractor roles.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to coordinate diverse technical and operational partners.
- Excellent German language skills; fluency in English strongly preferred.
