Salary: $100K+ (experience dependent - scope to go much higher depending on level of experience)

Role Overview
We are partnering with our client to recruit an Intermediate or Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This position plays a key role in delivering geotechnical solutions for a wide range of projects, from residential developments and commercial sites to infrastructure and municipal works. The successful candidate will conduct site investigations, provide technical analyses, and prepare geotechnical reports while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Geotechnical Design & Analysis
    • Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, in-situ testing, and lab data interpretation.
    • Perform foundation design (shallow and deep), slope stability analysis, retaining walls, and earthworks design.
    • Evaluate soil-structure interaction and provide recommendations for building, civil, and infrastructure projects.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Prepare geotechnical reports, borehole logs, technical memoranda, and construction monitoring reports.
    • Provide clear, concise technical recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Construction & Field Services
    • Conduct site visits, oversee geotechnical fieldwork, and provide on-site consultation.
    • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
  • Project Management & Client Liaison
    • Manage geotechnical projects, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
    • Communicate with clients, contractors, and municipal authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Mentorship & Team Development
    • Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and technicians, review work, and provide technical guidance.
    • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and training within the geotechnical team.
  • Business Development Support
    • Assist with proposal preparation, project scopes, and cost estimates.
    • Support departmental growth through client engagement and identifying project opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in BC (or eligible).
  • Intermediate level: 5-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience; Senior level: 10+ years.
  • Experience in foundation design, slope stability, retaining structures, excavation support, and construction monitoring.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software: GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE, SLOPE/W, and other standard analysis tools.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Mentoring or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
