We’re seeking an Operations & Safety Manager to join a reputable underground utility contractor based in Langley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in field operations and safety management to take ownership of day-to-day project delivery while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and performance. Reporting to the President. Key Responsibilities:Operations Management
Oversee daily field operations across multiple underground utility projects
Lead and support foremen and crews to ensure productivity, quality, and efficiency targets are met
Coordinate scheduling, resource planning, and equipment allocation
Work closely with Project Managers and Estimators to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction
Identify opportunities to improve field operations and streamline project delivery
Health & Safety Leadership
Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s safety management system
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Provide mentorship and leadership to the safety team and site supervisors
Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and COR certification requirements
Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in civil construction, ideally in underground utilities, excavation, or infrastructure
Strong leadership background managing both operations and safety functions
Proven track record of improving safety performance and operational efficiency
Excellent communication and team-building skills
Solid understanding of WorkSafeBC requirements and safety standards
CSO, NCSO, or equivalent safety designation preferred
