Project / Senior Pavement Engineer
I have an excellent opportunity with a long-standing client of mine based in Perth. They are looking for a Project/ Senior Pavement Engineer to join their team. The role will be a combination of site and office-based work.
This new and exciting role will be broken up into three key criteria of what the successful applicant can expect. The role will consist of the following:
Office-based design and support
• Collate geotechnical data and develop models for sites including condition reports for existing pavements.
• Develop laboratory testing programmes to provide characterisation data and parameters for pavement design.
• Evaluate natural materials available at sites to provide optimum solutions for pavement layerworks designs to meet project design requirements
• Assist in the design and analyses of both material and ground improvement works (stabilisation, the use of geotextiles) and materials manufacture.
Geotechnical Investigations
• Prepare the necessary documentation to access and permit the geotechnical investigations proposed.
• Manage the engagement of suitable sub-contractors required to complete the investigations.
• Assist in assessing pavement failures observed and provide practical input on constructable repair options.
• Supervise geotechnical investigations including pavement evaluation and condition assessment, groundbreaking investigations and supplementary non-destructive field testing.
Construction Supervision & Coordination
• Oversee day-to-day pavement construction and remediation works, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, client representatives, and engineers to ensure works progress smoothly and according to schedule.
• Liaise with engineers to confirm design intent and interpret pavement drawings, specifications, or geotechnical findings.
• Monitor site activities to ensure proper construction sequencing, compaction practices and layer thickness control.
• Recommend adjustments to construction methodologies when unforeseen conditions arise.
• Verify materials delivered to site meet the specification and approved mix designs.
• Witness field testing such as density tests, moisture content, CBR / DCP, stabilisation QA, asphalt QC, and subgrade verification.
• Ensure all testing is carried out in accordance with relevant Project / Australian MRWA standards.
