Job Title: Senior Accountant / Bookkeeper (Civil Contractor)

Job Summary:They are seeking an experienced and driven Accountant/Bookkeeper to oversee all financial operations of the company. This is a senior role with a pathway to becoming the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, capable of providing both day-to-day financial oversight and long-term financial planning to support the company’s growth and success.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage and oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports to the Presidents and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Supervise and collaborate with a team of two: an Accounting Clerk and a Project Manager.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and other key financial activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records, ensuring data integrity.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support decision-making and company growth.
- Optimize and maintain the use of Adagio accounting software (experience is beneficial but not required).
Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong financial analysis, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Adagio accounting software is an asset.
- Exceptional communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, capable of supporting both high-level financial planning and detailed accounting tasks.
Preferred Qualifications: - Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an advantage.
- Experience in the construction or civil engineering industry is a plus.
Reporting Line:Directly reports to the Presidents.
