Job Overview
The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial activities related to commercial and residential real estate properties. This role involves close collaboration with property management teams, senior executives, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain accounting records, and provide insightful analysis on property performance.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring property budgets and forecasts in collaboration with property management teams
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; prepare journal entries as needed
  • Review and process property-related expenses (e.g., utilities, maintenance, invoices), ensuring accurate coding and allocation
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, rent collection, and vendor payments
  • Review commercial leases to ensure accurate billing, recoveries, and compliance with lease terms
  • Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations
  • Monitor property cash flow, reconcile bank accounts, and ensure appropriate funding for operating expenses and distributions
  • Support external audits and ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Lease Administrators, Property Managers, and other internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting
  • Communicate financial results and insights clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and enhance reporting accuracy
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or working towards it) preferred
  • Proven experience as a Property Accountant or in a similar real estate accounting role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi) and strong Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team
