Sr. Estimator/Preconstruction Manager

Responsibilities

Cost Estimation:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for construction projects, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to produce estimates.
  • Provide value engineering and cost-saving solutions
Budgeting & Financial Management:
  • Develop project budgets and maintain cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track costs and update budgets as the project progresses, ensuring adherence to financial goals.
  • Work with the project team to forecast future costs and adjust as necessary.
Bid Management:
  • Lead the preparation of bid packages and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all bids comply with company standards and client requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates align with project goals.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss estimates, budgets, and timelines.
  • Communicate with various departments to ensure project scope is understood and addressed.
Preconstruction Planning:
  • Create detailed project schedules and timelines during the preconstruction phase.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support design development with cost analysis and construction feasibility feedback.
Document Management:
  • Maintain and organize all project-related documentation, including cost reports, change orders, and contract agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  
Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in construction estimating, preconstruction management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing complex construction projects, including commercial, residential, or industrial sectors.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or LEED accreditation are an asset.
Skills:
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage, Bluebeam).
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Analytical Abilities:
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Compensation:
  • Competitive salary typically ranging from $120,000 to $160,000+, depending on the size of the projects and location.
