Water & Wastewater Lead – Civil Engineering
Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $125,000–$150,000 + Share Ownership Opportunity
 
Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary consulting firm with a long-standing presence in Western Canada. With a team of over 350 professionals, they deliver a wide range of services including civil engineering, environmental consulting, urban planning, and surveying across BC, Alberta, and Ontario. Known for fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented workplace, they are committed to sustainable infrastructure and community development.
 
They are currently seeking an experienced Water & Wastewater Lead to join their growing Vancouver-based team. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing complex water and wastewater projects from concept to completion while also mentoring staff, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development efforts.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and private water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Manage full project lifecycles including permitting, procurement, construction support, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring expectations are met and relationships are strengthened.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary internal teams and coordinate with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, scopes of work, and schedules.
  • Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate team members.
  • Identify and manage risks, proactively addressing issues to keep projects on track.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and incorporate resiliency into infrastructure planning.
  • Oversee budget tracking, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Contribute to the company’s growth by participating in proposal writing, client meetings, and industry networking events.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible for transfer.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering with 3+ years in a leadership or project management role.
  • Technical experience with pump stations, treatment facilities, pipelines, and related municipal infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and permitting processes, as well as relevant standards (AWWA, WEF, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
  • Familiarity with engineering and project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license and flexibility to visit job sites or attend client meetings as required.
Compensation & Perks:
