Kier tops October contracts league after 30 wins

Date: 13 Nov 2017

Thirty new orders in October lifted Kier to the top of the monthly league tables with a £284m haul of work.

The biggest of these new jobs was the £44m Northstowe Special Academy for the emerging housing development in Cambridge.

Among the other significant contract wins last month Sir Robert McAlpine nabbed a £100m HMRC office headquarters in Cardiff. This helped the private contractor to also stretch its lead at the top of the 12-month rolling league of work won.

According to construction information specialist Glenigan, the contractor’s total haul now stands at a record £3bn, helped by its £1bn Battersea phase 3 win and HS2 Chiltern tunnels success with JV partners Bouygues and VolkerFitzpatrick.

John Sisk bagged the largest building win as preferred bidder for the £200m Great Ormond Street Hospital redevelopment in London.

Ardmore sealed a £100m deal for two hotels at the Olympic Park for Union Hotels and AccorHotels.
