Estimator – Flat Roofing – Southampton
SSA are recruiting an Estimator for an established Flat Roofing sub-contractor based in Southampton.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Estimator with a roofing sub-contractor.

Our client is a well-established roofing contractor based in Southampton. They offer a complete range of projects for the commercial and residential sectors with project values reaching upto £2 million.
About the Role:
- Preparation of prime cost estimates incorporating both standard and bespoke products
- Implementation of the tender process
- Liaison with contractors and consultants
- Advice on specifications and budgets
- Measurement of quantity and scope for bids
- Preparation of cost estimates
- Completion of fully considered tenders at final stage
- Advice on finalisation matters of risk and margins
- Preparation of indicative programmes
- Follow up with client to reach a positive conclusion
- Successful post tender negotiations
About the Candidate:
- Relevant experience in a similar estimating role with a roofing contractor
- Must be client facing and be a strong influencer who can manage difficult stakeholders
- Have tendered for projects upwards of £2 million
- Essentially – Numerate and accurate
- Enjoys working with people from different professional and trade backgrounds
- Need to be logical and well organised with ability to prioritise
- Financial attention to detail
- Presentation skills – written and verbal
- Positive response to pressure
- excellent commercial skills
- Technically competent in the estimating process
