Principal Maritime Engineer/Designer – Tired of lockdowns on the mainland?
I have an exceptional opportunity for a Senior/Principal Designer or Engineer to come into a well-established Tasmania consultancy. To help lead, develop and continue their already huge portfolio of Maritime and Civil Infrastructure projects. A number of these projects are landmark projects for the area and are looking for future and current Civil Infrastructure leaders!
Maybe you are living on the mainland and are getting sick and tired of all these lockdowns in your state. There has never been a better time to relocate to Tasmania. A simply beautiful place to live and work, the dollar can also stretch a bit further too. The confidence in the market is strong in Tasmania, the government are pumping money into the projects and are relatively Covid-free.
The role will involve:
• Design and project management of maritime engineering projects on time and to budget.
• Assistance in the preparation of client proposals.
• Support and guidance to younger maritime engineers.
• Accountability for significant and complex activities or projects. This will require you to be responsible for predicting and planning future resources.
• Taking a longer-term strategic view of the business and contribute to the development plan.
• Involvement in setting budgets; as such you would be responsible for negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers to achieve financial targets.
About you and your profile for success
• Chartered status through Engineers Australia, or other relevant body.
• Degree qualified: Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• Awareness of geotechnical design and soil-structure interaction.
• Awareness of modelling of sea state conditions and loads.
• Strong track record and experience with:
• Quay walls and/or river walls, dredging and reclamation.
• Wharves and Jetties; for structural role.
• Breakwaters, revetments.
• Experience of all phases of project lifecycle – Planning and development, detailed design, asset management.
• Coastal engineering design.
• Effective written communication and report writing skills.
• Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines.
• Keen understanding of “customer” needs (both internal and external) and creative in developing win-win solutions.
• Clear understanding of the need to consider occupational Health and Safety in all activities, including Safety in Design.
