The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. The successful candidate will be tasked with preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and establishing unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts. This individual’s accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business, as under-estimates may cause significant financial losses and overestimates may result in the inability to win bids. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.:
Job Duties
- Utilizing internal systems, processes, and technology to complete accurate quotations for demolition projects
- Attending site visits as required
- Providing timely and professional estimates to clients throughout Canada
- Actively pursuing new projects and building new relationships with clients of various sizes
- Following up with sales leads submitted via online resources
- Working with a team of individuals to provide high quality service to clients
- Experience with cost estimating for heavy civil projects using quantitative take-off techniques
- Experience creating quotations using estimating software
- Strong Computer skills required including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Other duties as required by lead estimator
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in cost estimation.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material, interpret job cost report and labour estimates.
- Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids using Bluebeam/B2W Estimate or other
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.)
- Time management skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
- Collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
