Duties include; excavation of bulk excavation, the use of hydraulic attachments and daily equipment checks and regular maintenance, and following health and safety regulations. High-reach operators must demonstrate the ability to safely demolish different structures while following engineered procedures. In this role, the operator needs to understand the working limits of equipment and attachments.
Job Duties
- Operate high reach excavator equipment machines
- Use hydraulic attachments and provide regular maintenance.
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
- Employ safe work practices for themselves as well as crew members
- Discusses plans for the day’s work with field manager, reviews blueprints if necessary, and determines the best method of getting assigned work done safely, accurately, and on time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of production process
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum 3 years operating a high reach excavator
- Minimum 10 years’ operating Excavators, Dozers, and Loaders.
- Experienced in all aspects of excavations.
- Working knowledge with reading plans and understanding of grades.
- GPS experience is an asset
- Operation knowledge of excavators, front-end loaders, dozers, skid steer loaders, and other pieces of equipment is an asset.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and the ability to perform small repairs is also an asset.
- Experience in the field of demolition is definitely an asset.
Work Conditions
- Hours of work vary depending on the season, workload, and other factors.
- Could be required to work overtime, evenings and weekends.
- Potential travel is required for multiple days.
- Required to work in all weather conditions as their position takes place in an outdoor setting on construction sites.
- Required to work around heavy equipment, exposed to a variety of fluids including hydraulics, diesel fuel, etc.
Experience:
- Operating a high reach excavator: 3 years (preferred)
- Operating Excavators, Dozers, and Loaders: 10 years (preferred)
