Reporting to the Health and Safety Director, the Health & Safety Supervisor works in collaboration with Site Leaders and other stakeholders identified in the project-specific Health and Safety execution plan. The Health and Safety Supervisor promotes and maintains a safe, and legally compliant construction site within the Ontario market.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Project Specific HS Execution Plan with the assistance of the Project Management Team and the Superintendents / Construction team.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Construction team and trade contractors to ensure their duties are performed in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and project specifications
  • Monitor project site conditions and behaviors to identify risks and provide project leaders with input and recommendations to enhance safety performance.
  • Manage HS related documentation as required by local legislation 
  • Participate in the company Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC)
  • Manage modified work programs within the requirements of the policy and local regulations.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, trade contractors, and general public.
  • Conduct inspections, safety hazard assessments, toolbox talks, audits, and incident investigations as required and directed by the Health & Safety Manager/Director

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience supervising health and safety in oil & gas or utility construction
  • Previous experience with investigating, interviewing, documenting, and reporting incidents and accidents in a health & safety context is considered an asset.
  • University degree or college diploma, specializing in occupational health & safety discipline, would be considered an asset. 
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) an asset.
  • applications, trades or construction techniques or comparable work experience.
  • OHS Provincial Certification.
  • Have a valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with accuracy in details.
  • Possess organizational skills and flexibility to plan, initiate, organize, and prioritize own work
