About the Client SSA Recruitment are currently partnering with a leading M&E contractor seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their QS career while gaining exposure to major projects and all aspects of commercial project delivery.
About the RoleDuties May Include: - Assisting with the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Supporting the preparation of valuations, payment applications and commercial reporting
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement, account management and final account agreements
- Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasting alongside senior commercial staff
- Supporting the management of project variations, change control and commercial risk
- Maintaining accurate project records, meeting documentation and commercial correspondence
- Assisting with cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and project performance analysis
- Supporting supply chain management and subcontractor performance reviews
- Working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery
- Contributing to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across projects
Requirements:
Essential - Degree qualified, or currently working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
- Good understanding of commercial processes within construction projects
- Confident using Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within project teams
- Eagerness to develop professionally within a commercial construction environment
Desired - Understanding of JCT or NEC forms of contract
- Previous placement or industry experience within construction or M&E
- Working towards professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB
- Awareness of cost reporting, variations and project forecasting processes
