Our client is currently seeking an on-site BIM/CAD Operator for an immediate opening at our construction site office in Toronto, ON.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use Revit and AutoCAD to develop models and prepare drawings based on preliminary concepts, sketches, and other data.
  • Assist with project support, including the production of models, creation, management, and analysis of building information models (BIM) and 2D drawings.
  • Prepare As-built and Trimble point drawings.
  • Update BIM models and drawings to reflect as-built layouts.
  • Create and modify parametric families.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and sheets for prefabrication.
  • Develop Autodesk Revit drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and electrical system designs.
  • Review drawings to reduce errors and make necessary alterations.
  • Check electrical and mechanical system layouts for potential interference with other building components like structure, ceilings, and millwork.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement drafting requirements.
  • Stay updated on current modeling and drafting techniques, and contribute to maintaining departmental BIM and CAD standards.
  • Develop electrical system layouts in coordination with mechanical, structural, and architectural components of buildings.
  • Set up Revit views for project teams, including electronic document filing and managing electronic drawings and models.
  • Create Revit work sets and understand the work-sharing process in Revit.
  • Input marked-up drawings into Revit and create minor mark-ups.
  • Understand 3D coordination with other trades.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • Educational background in architectural design, computer drafting, electrical or mechanical technology, or related field with experience in Revit.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Secondary School education (required).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills for managing multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in the current version of Revit software.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D plans (both electronic and hard copy).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Design Review, and working knowledge of 3D layout and design.
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to document and archive work according to project standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with others.
  • Ability to translate verbal and written directions into accurate working design documents.
  • Proficiency in handling documents, such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word files, in Revit projects.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while reporting to the team.
