Civil Superintendent (Water & Sewer) to oversee day-to-day operations on a variety of civil and deep utility projects.
Role Overview The Civil Superintendent will lead the scheduling, coordination, and execution of underground utility and earthworks projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, hands-on field leadership experience, and the ability to manage teams and subcontractors while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities - Oversee the daily management of civil and underground utility construction projects from start to finish.
- Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion within budget.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate crews and foremen to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
- Enforce safety and environmental protocols and ensure all work complies with applicable regulations and company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality, resolving issues as they arise.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain clear communication and workflow.
- Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and project reporting.
- Support the estimating and project planning process as required.
Qualifications & Experience - Diploma or technical background in civil construction or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in civil or deep utility construction.
- Proven experience managing crews on excavation, grading, and underground utility projects.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Current safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, CSTS, WHMIS) are considered assets.
