We are partnered alongside a reputable engineering and environmental consulting firm in their search for a skilled individual to take on the role of Construction Specifications Writer as part of their expanding team. This position offers the chance to collaborate with a group of professionals dedicated to impactful projects across Ontario, fostering teamwork and client engagement for long-term project success.

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in engineering technology, civil engineering, or construction engineering, alongside extensive Canadian experience in construction specification writing. As a self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills, you'll provide crucial support in construction contract specification writing to the contract administration and construction project management team.

Requirements:
  • Completion of post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field, accompanied by professional experience.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in construction specification administration/management.
  • Thorough understanding of Ontario design and technical specifications, standards, and guidelines (e.g., OPS/CCDC/NMS).
  • Proficient knowledge of engineering materials and construction principles.
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF).
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze architectural and engineering blueprints to formulate specifications and material inventories for contractors and subcontractors.
  • Create technical descriptions detailing material quantities and characteristics.
  • Develop construction tender specifications for diverse projects such as water/wastewater treatment enhancements, road construction, and institutional/commercial building endeavors.
  • Verify the precision of construction activities in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Revise and enhance tender and contract specification documents, following OPS and CCDC guidelines.
  • Ensure timely project completion by organizing tasks and collaborating with team members to meet deadlines.
