Director of Finance

Nature & Scope:
An accomplished financial leader working directly with the CEO and ownership/BOD, who possess the ability to execute the organization’s strategic functional and tactical goals by leading the financial team through effective and efficient planning, process improvement, timely insightful reporting, and results orientation.

Key focus and emphasis on accurate and timely financial reporting processes and controls to support the project management, field and manufacturing operations including financial reporting and projections for all construction/installation projects, and operational metrics. Assures the accuracy and consistency of all financial P&L/Balance sheet reporting, as well as cost information between all departments, including Estimating, Engineering, Purchasing and Project Management.

Direct reports: Sr. Accountant, Sr. Project Accountant and Accountants Payable Associate.

Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties:

Finance

  • Directs the organization’s financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting practices.
  • Creates and implements control processes that standardize accounting business practices across business.
  • Set clear objectives for the finance department to include specific deadlines for weekly, monthly, quarterlyreporting requirements for internal and external recipients.
  • Establish relationship with key vendors and sub contactors to manage accounts payable and set terms andconditions for payment.
  • Implements and oversees key financial metrics to ensure operational alignment with strategic objectives and high levels of visibility to corporate profitability.
  • Oversee accounting functions directed at supporting the plant operations including:
    • Analyze in-progress projects to develop estimate-to-complete adjustments for all projects.
    • Responsible for review of inventory, vendor and customer related account reconciliations.
  • Directs process for monthly reporting of actual results versus budget/forecast for all manufacturing/operations (direct labor and overhead) and conducts follow-up discussion/meetings with responsible management team members.
  • Develops processes to measure, analyze, and report direct labor performance.
  • Ensures departmental actions are supporting corporate goals including cost reduction improvements,inventory reductions, and procurement efforts.
  • Directs and coordinates the establishment and management of corporate and functional budgets.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package and supporting analysis to include detailed insights and recommendations for CEO, senior management and ownership/BOD.
  • Prepare annual audits/reviews and financial reporting.
  • Acts as data owner with primary responsibility for control and integrity for accounting and financial reporting systems and critical excel spreadsheet applications.
  • Responsible for utilizing QuickBooks with reporting the cash flow, income, and expenses.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring administrative, management and financial controls and disciplined procedures to assure the safeguarding of corporate assets and the integrity of management information.
Information Technology
  • Implementation and management of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP); makes recommendations to CEO.

  • Responsible for high-quality work product. Focus on the accuracy and completeness of informationdistributed to management, cross-functional team members and ownership/BOD.
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals including Sr. Accountant, Sr. Project Accountant and Accountants Payable Associate.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide transformational leadership to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Develop smart, compelling dashboards and reports to track key performance indictors (KPIs), identifytrends, and monitor company initiatives.
  • Monitors and facilitates cost savings through various identified initiatives.
  • Provides guidance as needed in strategic purchasing and materials management.
Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related required.
Experience/Skills
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in the finance /accounting discipline in a Controller or Sr. Financecapacity. Building materials or fenestration industry experience is beneficial.
  • A proven track record of partnering with senior management and BOD to lead an organization in strategicand tactical goals achievement thus increasing bottom line performance.
  • Short- and Long-term strategy and planning abilities
  • Problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional levels; P& L accountability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of ERP systems
  • Experience with job cost accounting practices and systems.
  • AIA billing experience and knowledge of Textura a plus.
  • Communicate and provide constructive feedback in a positive nature at all levels of the organizationregarding performance and objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and delegate by providing team members with clear direction, necessary resources, andholding those employees accountable for results.
  • Motivate and empower employees to build a high performing finance/accounting team.
