Job Description

A leading public-realm and external-works contractor is seeking a Document Controller to join its team in Chesterfield. With active projects in both Huddersfield and Cleethorpes, you’ll spend 1–2 days per week on site supporting project teams, with the remainder of your time based in the Chesterfield office.

As Document Controller, you’ll play a key role in organising project information, managing drawings and quality records, and ensuring smooth communication across public realm, civils and landscaping schemes.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing, organising and maintaining project documentation and drawings
• Ensuring accurate version control and consistent document standards
• Supporting site teams in Huddersfield and Cleethorpes 1–2 days per week
• Coordinating information flow between designers, clients and construction teams
• Assisting with quality management processes and audit requirements
• Uploading, tracking and maintaining documents within DMS platforms

What we’re looking for

• Previous document control experience in construction, civils or engineering
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident using document management systems (e.g. Viewpoint, Aconex, 4Projects or similar)
• Good communication skills with the ability to engage with both office and site teams
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work in a structured, fast-paced environment
• Willingness to visit project sites 1–2 days each week
