Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Project Manager to support our dynamic and fast-paced Electrical team in Toronto. The primary responsibility of this role is to plan and manage the scope, schedule, and financial performance of assigned projects, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The Project Manager will ensure project productivity and successful completion by keeping plans on track, addressing discrepancies and deficiencies promptly, maintaining customer relationships, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring adherence to project processes by all team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project work plans by identifying the resources, equipment, and financial requirements necessary for successful execution, progress, and completion of projects, while meeting customer-defined milestones and internal cost budgets.
  • Identify potential project risks, including scope, schedule, and cost issues, and devise action plans to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Lead the preparation of project estimates, utilizing appropriate tools and collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors, and equipment dealers to obtain cost estimates.
  • Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure the full understanding of project objectives and ensure all required information is transferred from sales/estimating.
  • Coordinate meetings with Foremen to review the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and inform them of contract and project details.
  • Continuously monitor the scope, schedule, and financial health of assigned projects, conducting regular project reviews to assess progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts and subcontracts, including revisions and changes, to meet financial and scheduling requirements.
  • Manage procurement processes, including shop drawing approvals, material and equipment purchases, rentals, and subcontracts, as needed. Approve project expenditures and ensure they are correctly coded.
  • Complete all closing documents in a timely manner, ensuring customer acceptance, and that all open commitments are closed out.
  • Identify and communicate any changes to the project scope, assess pricing for these changes, and inform clients of any cost or schedule impacts via approved Change Order Requests.
  • Address customer satisfaction issues immediately, resolving them or escalating them to management as needed.
  • Assist in sales, estimating, and engineering by providing cost and technical evaluations for prospective work.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of project management experience in construction or retrofit projects.
  • Experience in a wide range of construction/retrofit areas, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, structural, engineering, civil, design-build, and energy-related projects.
  • A college/university degree or equivalent experience.
  • PMP or similar certification is preferred.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage a heavy workload.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project applications.
