Position: Estimator
Location: Perth, ON
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 + Benefits
 
Our client, a growing General Contractor, is seeking an Estimator to join their team in Perth, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to further develop their estimating career while working on a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects throughout Eastern Ontario.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the pre-construction process, preparing accurate estimates, coordinating subcontractor pricing, reviewing tender documents, and supporting project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
 
Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction projects.
• Solicit, review, and analyze quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with bid preparation, tender submissions, and proposal development.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and opportunities during the estimating process.
• Prepare and maintain estimate summaries, bid comparisons, and pricing breakdowns.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, consultants, and clients during pre-construction.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and tender closings as required.
• Support budgeting, value engineering, and procurement activities.
• Maintain subcontractor and supplier relationships while sourcing competitive pricing.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of estimating experience working for a General Contractor or Construction Management firm in Ontario.
• Experience preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial, institutional, industrial, or ICI construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and tendering processes.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar software is considered an asset.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to attend project sites as required.
