Role: Estimator
 
Location: Vaughan, ON
 
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 + Benefits
 
Our client, an established and growing General Contractor based in Vaughan, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial, institutional, industrial, and ICI construction projects while contributing to a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 3 years of local estimating experience in Ontario, a strong understanding of construction methods and pricing, and a proven track record of stability and tenure with previous employers.
Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial, institutional, industrial, and ICI projects.
• Solicit, review, and analyze quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare tender submissions, bid proposals, and estimate summaries.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities during the estimating process.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the pre-construction phase.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and tender closings as required.
• Assist with budgeting, value engineering, procurement planning, and bid reviews.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted within required deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of estimating experience with a General Contractor in Ontario.
• Strong understanding of commercial, institutional, industrial, and ICI construction projects.
• Experience preparing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of tendering procedures, construction methodologies, contracts, and procurement processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated long-term tenure and stability with previous employers.
• Experience working on multiple project types and values.
• Strong understanding of local subcontractor and supplier markets.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
