Education and Experience:
- Minimum Requirements: A post-secondary technical diploma is required, along with at least 5 years of estimating experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: A Professional Quantity Surveyor Designation or Gold Seal in Estimating is preferred.
- Construction Experience: Experience in multi-family, commercial, and light industrial construction is preferred, with a focus on projects up to $50 million.
Technical Skills & Responsibilities:
- Software Proficiency: Strong understanding of Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel, Project, & Outlook), as well as proficiency in take-off and estimating software. Willingness to adapt to new software.
- Estimating Abilities: Able to prepare accurate and detailed estimates for various project types (cost plus, construction management, fixed price). Proficiency in preparing fixed price (hard bid) projects.
- Quantity Take-off: Understanding of the importance of quantity take-off and willingness to perform it. Ability to identify and manage risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Scope Management: Prepares scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers, and manages elements of pre-construction and construction responsibilities.
- Database Management: Ability to create and maintain an accurate estimating database using historical company data and industry information.
- Technological Aptitude: High aptitude in understanding estimating technology and identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency of the estimating process.
- Project Management: Capable of managing small construction projects.
