CIVIL ESTIMATOR Heavy Civil Construction | Richmond / Greater Vancouver, BC | Permanent, Full-Time

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a well-established, COR-certified heavy civil contractor with over 50 years of experience delivering earthworks, underground utilities, road construction, and site servicing across the Lower Mainland. They're looking for a Civil Estimator who knows how to price civil work accurately, move quickly on tenders, and build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. This is a hands-on role in a close-knit, experienced team where your work directly shapes what the company wins.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT
A respected, long-standing heavy civil contractor based in Richmond with operations across Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. They self-perform a broad scope of civil work — earthworks, underground utilities, road building, concrete, and full-service civil construction — for municipal, commercial, and development clients. Known for dependable delivery, experienced crews, and a practical, no-nonsense approach to getting the job done. This is a tight team where people know the work and take pride in it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil construction projects — earthworks, underground utilities, road construction, site servicing, and concrete works
  • Manage tenders from document receipt through to bid submission
  • Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for scope, risk, and opportunity
  • Develop bid packages and pricing summaries for municipal, commercial, and development clients
  • Maintain and update unit cost databases and historical pricing data
  • Attend pre-bid site visits and tender clarification meetings
  • Support handoffs to project teams on awarded work
  • Track bid results and market pricing trends
  • Assist with change order pricing and value engineering on active projects
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in civil construction — earthworks, underground utilities, or road construction
  • Solid understanding of civil construction methods, equipment productivity, and material costs in the BC market
  • Experience with municipal and private sector tenders in the Lower Mainland preferred
  • Proficient in Bluebeam for quantity take-offs; estimating software experience (HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, or similar) an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Field experience in civil construction is a real advantage
  • Comfortable working in a smaller, hands-on team environment
  • Post-secondary in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management preferred
WHAT'S ON OFFER
  • Up to $120,000 base salary depending on experience
  • Stable, year-round work with a strong and consistent project pipeline
  • Close-knit, experienced team with real depth of civil knowledge
  • Richmond head office with Langley yard — central Lower Mainland location
  • A company with deep roots in BC civil construction and a reputation that speaks for itself
