The Opportunity:
 
We are partnering with a well-established, international engineering and geoscience consultancy to recruit an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer for their Vancouver office. This firm is widely recognized for its technical excellence in the mining and resource sectors, delivering advisory, investigation, and design services across the full project lifecycle.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for a geotechnical engineer looking to work on complex, technically challenging projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and grow within a highly respected consulting environment.
 
 
The Role:
 
The successful candidate will play a key technical and client-facing role, contributing to geotechnical investigations, analysis, design, and reporting for mining and heavy civil projects in Canada and internationally. Depending on experience level, this role offers scope for technical leadership, mentoring, and involvement in business development.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, including data collection, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, soil and rock mechanics, and numerical modeling.
  • Support the design and assessment of mine infrastructure, waste facilities, slopes, and foundations.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports suitable for clients, regulators, and investors.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, geological, mining, and environmental specialists.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers (senior level).
  • Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and project scoping.
  • Support field programs, site investigations, and monitoring activities as required.
Qualifications:
 
Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
  • P.Eng. registration in BC or eligibility for registration with EGBC.
  • Typically 5+ years' experience (Intermediate) or 10+ years' experience (Senior) in geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong grounding in soil and rock mechanics, geotechnical investigations, and design.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
Preferred / Asset:
  • Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, Rocscience suite).
  • Background in mining-related geotechnical projects, tailings, or large-scale earthworks.
  • Previous consulting experience and exposure to client-facing roles.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or leading project components.
