Junior Estimator – Underground Tunnelling, Shafts & Civil Works - Hamilton, ON

Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join their team and support bidding and preconstruction efforts on projects involving underground tunnelling, shafts, and civil works.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–3 years of experience who is looking to grow their career in heavy civil works across Southwest Ontario.

In this role, you will assist with quantity take-offs, pricing, subcontractor and supplier inquiries, and preparation of tender submissions. You will work closely with the senior estimator to develop accurate, competitive estimates for complex underground and heavy civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for tunnelling, shaft, excavation, and civil works projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Obtain pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Support the preparation of bid submissions, pricing summaries, and clarifications.
• Help review project scope, risk items, and constructability considerations.
• Maintain organized estimating files, logs, and pricing databases.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely tender deliverables.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of estimating, construction, or project coordination experience.
• Background in civil, underground, geotechnical, or tunnelling works is an asset.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other estimating tools.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
