Junior Earthworks Project Manager
Overview
Responsible for managing civil construction projects from tender through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to specification.


Key Responsibilities Tendering

  • Review tender documents, identify risks, and assess project requirements
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and conduct site visits
  • Prepare take-offs, obtain pricing, and complete bid submissions
  • Analyze quotes and finalize tender packages
  • Coordinate internal reviews and submit tenders on time
  • Conduct post-tender analysis for future improvements
Project Operations
  • Set up project cost codes and monitor labour, equipment, and productivity
  • Review daily timecards and ensure accurate reporting and payroll alignment
  • Communicate daily with site teams to track progress and address issues
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor status and identify changes or extras
  • Coordinate with consultants and stakeholders to maintain project flow
Billing & Cost Control
  • Manage progress billings and force accounts
  • Track and submit invoices in line with contract terms
  • Maintain billing records and ensure positive project cash flow
  • Monitor change orders and follow up on approvals
  • Support accounts receivable and cost tracking
Procurement
  • Source and order materials, ensuring timely delivery to site
  • Coordinate subcontractors and confirm pre-qualifications
  • Review supplier and subcontractor pricing and invoices
  • Ensure all submittals and shop drawings are approved prior to ordering
Project Systems (VIZZN)
  • Upload drawings, site photos, and project data
  • Track progress, update schedules, and monitor critical path
  • Complete site inspections and safety documentation
  • Identify risks and potential cost impacts
Analysis & Reporting
  • Monitor project performance and recommend improvements
  • Complete post-project reviews and lessons learned
  • Provide weekly job cost updates and progress reports
Relationships & Communication
  • Build and maintain strong client, consultant, and stakeholder relationships
  • Attend industry events and represent the company professionally
Meetings & Reporting
  • Participate in scheduling, operations, and client meetings
  • Report regularly to the Division Manager on project status, costs, and tenders
Authority Limits
  • Escalate non-standard purchase orders, contracts, and approvals as required
  • Follow company guidelines for supplier and subcontractor engagement
