Overview
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design and execution of mechanical building systems across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, commercial, institutional, and residential projects. This position is based in downtown Toronto and involves contributing to projects from early design through construction, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and compliant mechanical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop mechanical system concepts, including load calculations, layouts, equipment selection, and technical reports.
• Coordinate design activities with internal disciplines as well as external consultants and architects.
• Prepare construction documents and technical specifications in support of project delivery.
• Perform site visits during the construction phase and assist with field review activities.
• Support construction-phase reviews to ensure adherence to ASHRAE standards and LEED requirements where applicable.
• Review and assess shop drawings and contractor submissions for compliance and accuracy.
• Maintain and update project schedules in alignment with project requirements.
• Provide regular progress updates and reporting to the Project Manager.
• Identify and escalate resourcing or project-related issues to project leadership as required.
• Assist with business development initiatives and help maintain ongoing client relationships.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and/or design coordination within a consulting environment.
• Proven experience producing mechanical system designs and drawings for healthcare, hospitality, commercial, institutional, residential, and public/private sector projects.
• Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical building systems.
Location: Toronto, Ontario (office-based with regular site visits)
