Project Safety Coordinator | Newcastle

SSA Group is seeking a project safety coordinator for a client based in Newcastle, NSW. we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Project Safety Coordinator. The chosen applicant will be vital to maintaining the security of workers, tools, and project locations. To maintain safety standards across all phases of our client's projects, as a Project Safety Coordinator, you will put safety procedures into practice, lead training sessions, and work with project managers. The ideal candidate will also have experience in gaining and maintaining ISO accreditation

Role and Responsibility's 
  • Create and put into effect safety policies and procedures in compliance with laws and industry standards
  • Regularly audit and inspect project locations to look for possible risks and make sure safety procedures are being followed
  • Give new hires and subcontractors orientation and safety training.
  • Examine mishaps, incidents, and near-misses; create remedial measures to stop them from happening again.
  • Work together to include safety in the design and execution of projects with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Keep complete records of all safety-related activities, such as incidents, training, and inspection reports.
  • Keep abreast of market developments, legal requirements, and industry best practices to continuously enhance safety initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience 
  • A qualification in occupational health and safety—a diploma in OHS is preferred 
  • three years of minimum experience in construction safety, preferably with particular formwork and concreting knowledge.
  • It is necessary to have experience obtaining and maintaining ISO accreditation as well as knowledge of pertinent safety standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to engage and train staff members at all levels,.
  • Proactive in recognising and resolving safety issues, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
