We’re working with a leading commercial and industrial property management firm seeking a Property Accountant to join their team. If you have +2 years of property management accounting experience and a passion for commercial real estate, this could be your next career move!

About the Role

The Property Accountant will manage full-cycle accounting for assigned properties, ensuring financial statements, reports, and reconciliations are accurate and timely. You’ll act as the first point of contact for internal accounting inquiries and provide insights to the Property Management team.

Key Responsibilities Accounting & Reporting
  • Prepare month-end financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
  • Perform management fee, rent roll billings, and tenant chargebacks
  • Prepare tax filings and remittances (GST, PST, Non-Resident tax installments)
  • Prepare cash-flow statements and monthly distributions
  • Track capital expenditures and follow up on variances
  • Assist Property Managers with accounts receivable and tenant inquiries
  • Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with auditors
  • Assist with annual CAM and Tax recovery reconciliations
  • Support annual property forecasts and budgets
  • Maintain accurate A/P coding, lease data, and accounting documents
Special Projects & Support
  • Assist with new property setups, sales, and other special projects
  • Provide vacation coverage for colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in commerce, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of property management accounting experience
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting, and recoveries
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Yardi Voyager, PayScan, and Vendor Cafe is an asset
Preferred Experience
  • CAM Reconciliation: 1 year
  • Commercial Property Accounting: 1 year
