My client is a leading piling subcontractor specialising in the provision of foundation solutions for large-scale construction projects. As a trusted partner to contractors and developers, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their growing team.
  
About the role:
As a Senior Estimator you will be responsible for preparing and managing cost estimates for piling and foundation works. Your expertise will be key in developing competitive and accurate bids that align with client expectations and project specifications. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and the commercial team to provide detailed estimates, ensuring that all aspects of a project’s cost structure are considered and incorporated.
  
Key responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for piling and foundation projects, considering all aspects of project scope, material, labor, equipment, and overheads.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify project requirements and scope of work.
  • Develop and maintain detailed pricing schedules and estimates for tender submissions.
  • Provide accurate and competitive pricing for different types of piling methods (e.g., bored piles, driven piles, sheet piling).
Tendering & Bid Management:
  • Lead the preparation of tender submissions, collaborating with internal teams (technical, operations, and commercial) to ensure all costs are accurately captured and risk factors are mitigated.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring the best possible value for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the commercial team to submit winning bids on time and in line with company standards.
Risk Analysis & Value Engineering:
  • Identify and assess potential project risks and propose cost-effective solutions to mitigate them.
  • Provide value engineering advice to optimize the project cost without compromising quality and safety.
  • Highlight any risks or opportunities for cost savings during the tender phase to senior management.
Project Cost Control:
  • Work closely with the project team during the construction phase to monitor actual costs and compare them with the original estimate, providing cost control support.
  • Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts and other financial reports.
Client & Stakeholder Liaison:
  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication throughout the tendering and project execution phases.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings to discuss cost proposals, clarifications, and project scope with clients.
 Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in piling techniques, material costs, and industry trends.
  • Contribute to improving estimating processes, tools, and templates within the company.
  
About the requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator, with significant experience in estimating piling or foundation works.
  • Proven experience in the civil engineering, construction, or piling sector, including hands-on knowledge of various piling techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience in preparing cost estimates for both large and small-scale piling projects.
