Senior Structural Engineer – Marine Location: Vancouver, BC
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + benefits
Overview On behalf of our client, a well-established engineering consultancy in Vancouver, we are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with marine experience to join their growing infrastructure team.
This is a senior-level opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex marine and coastal structures across port, waterfront, and transportation projects. The role offers a strong mix of technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, working with a reputable team on high-impact infrastructure projects across the West Coast.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the structural design and delivery of marine and waterfront infrastructure projects (wharves, piers, docks, berths, retaining structures, and coastal protection works)
- Manage projects from concept design through to detailed design and construction support
- Perform and review structural analysis and design using steel, concrete, and timber in marine environments
- Coordinate with geotechnical, coastal, and civil teams on multidisciplinary projects
- Liaise with port authorities, municipalities, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Prepare and review engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Ensure designs meet relevant codes, standards, and marine durability requirements
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
- Contribute to proposals and business development initiatives
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility to obtain)
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience, with a strong focus on marine or waterfront structures
- Experience delivering port, coastal, or marine infrastructure projects in a consulting environment
- Strong understanding of marine loading conditions (wave, current, berthing, seismic, corrosion/durability considerations)
- Familiarity with relevant design standards (CSA, NBCC, PIANC, and port authority guidelines)
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, S-Frame, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver high-quality technical work
