Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer (Rail) to become an integral part of a globally recognized engineering and construction firm here in Toronto. This role involves working on a variety of Rail projects, including High Speed, Metro, LRT, and streetcars.

There is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team on some of the key projects being delivered in the Rail & Transit industry here in Toronto and offers the right individual a highly flexible working arrangement between both office and home!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop innovative design solutions, utilizing a range of geotechnical and structural skills, for tunneling, support of excavation, foundations, and underground structures, with a focus on intricate soil-structure interaction.
• Lead site investigations, interpret geotechnical data, and conduct ground modeling.
• Collaborate within a team of professionals across multiple projects and coordinate tasks among engineers and design staff.
• Deliver design packages, collaborating with both external and internal stakeholders, ensuring quality control, managing team inputs, and occasional travel to project sites.
• Drive the team's technical excellence and digital innovation.
• Potential involvement in project commercial management and proposal delivery.
• Explore various career development paths, including technical leadership, staff resource management, and client engagement.

Requirements:

• Hold an engineering degree in a related field.
• Possess project management and technical lead experience.
• Accumulate 8+ years of relevant industry/project experience.
• Have prior experience working on Rail & Transit projects in the greater Toronto area.
• Hold a P.Eng, or C.Eng. certification.
• Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, nurturing junior staff development.
• Exhibit experience in developing innovative underground structure solutions following current design standards and guidelines, with transportation sector experience being advantageous.
• Proficiency with numerical analysis software, and coding capability is desirable.
• Show experience in implementing or constructing design solutions on construction sites.
• Display enthusiasm and capability for supervising others' work, including the checking and approval of key deliverables.
