Site Engineer/Trainee Site Manager

This role is ideal for an experienced Site Engineer or someone progressing into a Trainee Site Manager position. You will support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works, ensuring technical accuracy, safety compliance, and efficient site management across multiple sites in the West and East Yorkshire regions.

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Support
  • Set out works, conduct surveys, and maintain accurate site measurements.
  • Assist with interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Support quality assurance processes, including ITPs, testing, and record-keeping.
  • Resolve technical queries with designers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Site Management Assistance
  • Support the Site Manager with daily coordination of teams, plant, and materials.
  • Help manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Contribute to short-term planning, sequencing, and on-site logistics.
  • Maintain detailed site diaries, progress reports, and health & safety documentation.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with RAMS and site rules.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings.
  • Monitor environmental controls and ensure work is carried out responsibly.
Quality & Programme Control
  • Ensure site works are completed to the required standards and in line with design.
  • Carry out inspections, checks, and quality monitoring.
  • Assist with tracking progress against programme targets and reporting updates.
Stakeholder & Client Interaction
  • Engage professionally with clients, consultants, local authorities, and residents.
  • Provide updates to the management team and attend coordination meetings when required.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience as a Site Engineer or strong ambition to progress into Site Management.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering works, including groundworks, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competence with engineering equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levelling instruments.
  • CSCS card essential; SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid, or Temporary Works knowledge advantageous (training can be provided for trainees).
