About the Company: Our client is a growing General Contractor based in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area, specializing in
commercial interior renovations and fit-outs across Canada. Their portfolio includes
banking renovations, retail store rollouts, and quick-service restaurant (QSR) retrofits, with a strong focus on fast-paced project delivery, quality execution, and client satisfaction.
Position Overview: They are seeking a
Traveling Site Superintendent with experience in
commercial interior renovations to lead on-site construction activities across projects nationwide. This role is ideal for someone comfortable working in
active environments, tight schedules, and phased renovations, with travel assignments up to 3 months at a time.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee all on-site construction activities for bank branches, retail fit-outs, and QSR retrofit projects
- Manage fast-paced renovation schedules, including night work, phased turnovers, and live environments
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and site personnel to ensure efficient workflow
- Enforce and maintain health & safety standards in accordance with provincial regulations and site-specific requirements
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Manage daily site operations including scheduling, inspections, and progress tracking
- Lead site meetings and provide regular updates to project managers and clients
- Identify and resolve site issues, conflicts, and delays proactively in high-pressure environments
- Maintain accurate site documentation including daily logs, reports, and deficiency tracking
- Support project closeout, including inspections, deficiencies, and client turnover
Qualifications & Requirements: - Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent or similar role
- Proven experience in commercial interior renovations (retail, banking, QSR, or similar fast-paced environments)
- Strong understanding of tight schedules, phased construction, and working in operational spaces
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations across multiple provinces
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness and ability to travel across Canada and work on-site for extended periods (up to 3 months)
- Valid driver’s license
Nice to Have: - Experience managing rollout programs or multi-site renovation projects
- Familiarity with Procore, MS Project, or similar construction management tools
- First Aid, WHMIS, Working at Heights certifications
