Utility Design Manager – Hydro & Telecom Projects
Markham, ON 

Salary - $90,000 - $130,000

Our client is a leading utility contractor looking to build out their in-house design team to lead design efforts for hydro and telecom infrastructure projects serving Toronto Hydro and Alectra. They are seeking a utility leader with 5+ years of experience in utility design phases to ensure compliance and drive project delivery. This will be the first hire in the design side of the business, and you would be expected to work towards building a team of design professionals in due course.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee design lifecycle for hydro distribution, transmission, and telecom network projects.
• Build and lead multidisciplinary design teams, coordinating with stakeholders at Toronto Hydro and Alectra.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, budgets, and timelines.
• Manage risk assessments, technical reviews, and vendor coordination.
• Build a team and champion innovation in utility design practices.

Requirements:

• 5+ years in utility design (hydro/telecom focus).
• Valid P.Eng license in Ontario (Required)
• Five days in office to work alongside the contracting team
• Proven experience with Toronto Hydro/Alectra projects or similar.
• Strong knowledge of CSA, OESC, and telecom standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
