Executive committee approves total of $82m for new projects including housing and public parks
An “intelligent transportation system” will be developed in Al Ain to help reduce congestion and emissions, part of the $81.68 million (AED300 million) infrastructure development spend announced by Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
The executive committee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council allocated $31.06m (AED114m) for the project that will help in early detection and response to accidents, state news agency, WAM reported.
Approval was given to the design and delivery of a project for building 191 houses in Al Qou area of Al Ain, worth $26.14m (AED96m).
The committee also approved $20.15m (AED74m) for preliminary and earthworks at the commercial enclave in Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi City that will be built over an area of 1,500 hectares. It is expected to accommodate 300,000 residents, in addition to 325,000 of business staff.
Spend of $5.45m (AED20m) was approved for the development of public parks in Abu Dhabi while another contract for the renovation and expansion of the existing Central Souq in Medinat Zayed got the nod.
